Effective Anxiety Treatment with Hypnotherapy, NLP & EFT
If you’ve been struggling with anxiety, of any type, you may have tried various approaches to find relief. Perhaps you’ve tried traditional talking therapies, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), medication, learnt coping strategies, and are still looking for effective anxiety treatment that brings lasting relief.
While these approaches can help to for some people, you might be searching for something more effective and holistic that gives you lasting change rather than trying to learn to cope.
As someone who overcame severe anxiety and OCD using natural techniques, and who now specialises in helping clients to overcome all types of anxiety using the even more effective therapies and techniques I’ve trained in, I want to share how the techniques I use differ from traditional methods and why they can be so remarkably effective for all types of anxiety.
I use a highly effective combination of Clinical Hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT Tapping).
Whether you are experiencing occasional anxiety that holds you back in some situations or a more debilitating type of anxiety disorder, I hope you find this blog helpful.
While this blog focuses on effective treatment for the many different types of anxiety, you may find it helpful to first read my blog about Types of Anxiety and Anxiety Disorders, where I explain the most common anxiety conditions and how they can show up.
Why Traditional Approaches Don’t Always Provide the Best Anxiety Treatment
Traditional treatments for anxiety typically focus on managing symptoms, changing thought patterns at the conscious level, or using unpleasant exposure techniques.
Therapies, such as counselling or CBT, can be very helpful for many people. They often focus on insight, awareness, coping strategies and changing conscious thought patterns.
However, anxiety mainly operates at an unconscious level, driven by patterns in your subconscious mind and responses in your nervous system that developed in response to past experiences. This is why people often say:
- “I know it doesn’t make sense, but I still feel anxious”
- “I understand why I feel this way, but it hasn’t changed”
- “I can talk about it, but my body still reacts”
How My Approach Works Differently
The therapies I use work with your mind, body, emotions, and nervous system, and they address the root causes of your anxiety, and help you change your responses to triggers to more empowering responses.
Rather than using conscious ways to challenge your thinking, unpleasant exposure techniques, or simply teaching you to cope, hypnotherapy, NLP and EFT help you release the underlying patterns that are creating your anxiety.

With hypnotherapy, NLP and EFT Tapping, I help you to uncover and gently resolve the emotional, mental and physiological issues that drive your anxiety. We do this in safe and effective ways, without much distress or any re-traumatisation and at a pace that works for you.
I also use and teach you simple but highly effective techniques to help you calm your nervous system and feel more empowered, which you can use anytime you need to.
Clients usually experience significant relief in far fewer sessions than with traditional approaches. This is why you can have positive changes much more rapidly that last long-term, and this type of therapy helps you feel much more empowered.
In my work with clients, I help with all types of anxiety, from the more normal kind of anxiety that we all experience from time to time, such as about an upcoming event or a stressful situation, to the more distressing and debilitating anxiety disorders.
I explain much more about the difference between normal anxiety and anxiety disorders in my blog post on Anxiety vs. Anxiety Disorders: What’s the Difference?
A Holistic, Integrated Approach to Anxiety with Hypnotherapy, NLP and EFT
In my practice, I keep in mind a holistic approach and use a combined integration of highly effective therapies, tailoring the approach to each person’s unique issues and needs. Below I explain how the therapies I use can help with anxiety.
How Hypnotherapy Helps for Deep Anxiety Relief
Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind, which is the part responsible for habits, emotional reactions and automatic responses.
Hypnotherapy is a state of focused attention where your mind is highly receptive to positive suggestion and change (you will only accept suggestions and make changes that are in alignment with your values).
Hypnosis is a natural state, similar to being absorbed in a book or film. You remain in complete control throughout the session.
With hypnotherapy can help you to:
- Calm your nervous system by helping you to relax deeply and reduce tension and stress
- Resolve subconscious emotional triggers
- Create new, calmer internal associations
- Change anxious responses into more empowering, peaceful responses and perspectives
- Develop healthier patterns of thinking and responding
- Build inner resources such as confidence, calm and resilience, both in general and in specific situations
- Create new neural pathways that support peace and wellbeing
People usually find hypnotherapy to be a pleasant calming experience.

The research on hypnotherapy for anxiety
Scientific studies demonstrate that hypnosis is highly effective in treating anxiety, with research showing significant reductions in anxiety symptoms. Studies also show that hypnosis effectively reduces anxiety by calming the nervous system and reducing sympathetic nervous system activation (the system responsible for the fight-or-flight response).
NLP & Time Line Therapy™: Changing The Patterns That Keep Anxiety in Place
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) focuses on how your thoughts, perceptions, language (including your own self talk), memories and internal imagery shape emotional and behavioural responses.
NLP works with the relationship between your neurology (brain and nervous system), language (how you communicate with yourself and others), and patterns of behaviour and emotion.
Anxiety is often maintained by:
- Repetitive mental loops
- Catastrophic thinking
- Emotional memories stored with strong intensity
- Internal images that trigger fear automatically
Some of the ways NLP helps with anxiety is by:
- Interrupting anxious thinking patterns
- Gently reducing the emotional charge of past experiences
- Changing how your mind represents fearful experiences internally
- Creating greater emotional choice and flexibility
With NLP techniques we can work quickly and gently, without needing to analyse or relive past events in detail.
While CBT focuses on challenging thoughts at the conscious level, NLP works with how your brain actually codes and stores experiences. It’s like updating your mind’s operating system rather than just trying to override faulty programming with willpower.
NLP also gives you tools you can use on yourself in an empowering way. Many clients love that they can use NLP techniques themselves whenever they need to shift their state or change how they feel or respond in challenging situations.
Time Line Therapy™ is an advanced set of NLP techniques that is highly effective for releasing negative emotions and problematic thought patterns or limiting beliefs. It is highly effective as part of the process of helping you to resolve anxiety issues.

EFT Tapping: Regulating Anxiety Through the Body’s Energy System
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as tapping, works directly with your body’s energy system. By tapping on the end points of meridians on your face and body while focusing on a specific issue, it helps to rebalance your body’s energy system in relation to that thought or specific issue.
How EFT Works for Anxiety:
Research shows that EFT is an evidence-based practice for treating anxiety, PTSD, and other psychological conditions. Studies demonstrate that EFT:
- Reduces cortisol (your body’s primary stress hormone)
- Calms the amygdala (the brain’s fear centre)
- Signals safety to your nervous system, helping you feel calmer
- Releases emotional intensity around specific memories, issues or situations
During an EFT session, we identify the specific aspects of your anxiety, including particular thoughts, memories, physical sensations, or situations that trigger anxiety for you. By tapping while focusing on these aspects, we can reduce or eliminate the emotional charge attached to them.
Many people find EFT especially helpful for panic, health anxiety, intrusive thoughts, OCD compulsions, stress, and emotional overwhelm.
EFT works directly with your body’s energy system and nervous system, creating immediate physiological changes. Unlike approaches that work only with thoughts, EFT addresses the felt experience of anxiety in your body.
Many people experience noticeable relief during the tapping process itself and anxiety levels can drop significantly within minutes.
Another significant advantage is that EFT is a tool you can use yourself anytime, anywhere. I teach clients how to tap for themselves, giving them a practical technique for managing anxiety independently when needed.
Effective Anxiety Treatment for Addressing Different Types of Anxiety

The therapy techniques I use; Hypnotherapy, NLP, Time Line Therapy™, EFT are highly effective for all types of anxiety because they address the underlying issues that drive anxious responses, while also being flexible enough to target the specific patterns unique to each form of anxiety and your unique specific issues.
These therapies combined in an integrated way are tailored to and your specific type of anxiety and the unique issues, triggers, underlying issues and symptoms you experience.
Below I explain how this approach helps with different anxiety issues
Calming and Resolving Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
The main symptom of generalised anxiety disorder is persistent, excessive worry and anxiety. It also commonly includes a number of physical symptoms as a result of an overstimulation nervous system.
With my integrated approach I help you change the subconscious patterns keeping you in hypervigilance, interrupt your cycle of worry, and help you change how you emotionally and mentally process situations. This also calms your physical symptoms and helps your mind and body shift from chronic anxiety to natural calm.
Lasting Relief from Panic Attacks and Panic Disorder
Panic attacks are a fear response with intense physical symptoms that people usually find very frightening and unpleasant. Panic disorder is when you have recurrent panic attacks and are constantly fearing having another one.
Panic attacks can be resolved by addressing both what underlies your fear, stress and anxiety, and the cycle of fear of the panic attacks that maintains them.
I use gentle techniques to resolve any initial sensitising events and release the emotional charge from past panic attacks. I help you to understand that it’s just your body’s natural fear response in overdrive and give you techniques to interrupt panic in the moment and signal safety to your nervous system. I also give you techniques to access to calm states.
This integrated method often resolves panic attacks in a relatively short time.

Overcoming Social Anxiety Disorder and Building Confidence
Also known as social phobia, social anxiety disorder is an intense fear of social situations for fear of judgement and scrutiny and then embarrassment, humiliation, or rejection.
With the combination of therapies and techniques that I use we can resolve the underlying issues the cause you to lack confidence in yourself and in social situations. Then we can use therapy techniques to help you to rebuild your self-esteem and confidence in yourself so that you can feel confident in social situations. You will even have empowering techniques that you can use whenever you feel that you need to.
Rapid, Lasting Relief from Specific Phobias
A phobia is an extreme, irrational fear response to a specific object or situation.
Phobias respond remarkably well to certain therapy techniques. With the therapy techniques that I use phobias can be resolved rapidly and gently, without unpleasant exposure or distress, quite often in a single session.
Breaking Free from Agoraphobia
Agoraphobia is an intense irrational fear of being in situations where escape might be difficult or where help might not be available if things go wrong. Examples of situations you might be scared of include travelling on public transport, visiting a shopping centre or leaving home.
When someone has panic disorder, sometimes it leads them to develop agoraphobia as they avoid situations that they fear might trigger one, and their world gets smaller.
With an integrated approach I help you to calm your anxiety and address your underlying fears while building confidence. We work to restore your sense of safety and control and release emotions from past experiences that you find difficult. We resolve panic attacks or panic disorder if that’s an issue for you, as it is often the case with agoraphobia. This integrated approach helps you reclaim your ability to live fully.
Resolving Health Anxiety (Hypochondria)
Health anxiety, also known as hypochondria, involves excessive worry about physical symptoms or illness. Even minor changes in the body can feel alarming, and reassurance often provides only temporary relief.
With a combination of therapies and techniques, I help you calm your anxiety and your nervous system and resolve the deep issues your underlying your fears and anxiety around your health. Once you feel calmer and your fears are resolved this will change how you interpret bodily sensations.

Effective Therapy for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Many years ago, long before I trained as a therapist, I suffered from severe OCD myself. I learned how to calm my anxiety and retrain my mind using natural techniques. With time and persistence, I became free from OCD, which is why helping people to overcome OCD is so close to my heart.
OCD involves cycles of intrusive, obsessive thoughts, and then compulsions in the form of repetitive actions or mental rituals to bring relief. The compulsions only bring temporary relief and usually strengthen the anxious, obsessive cycle.
In my work with clients, I focus on helping you to calm your nervous system, addressing the underlying fears that fuel your OCD, and helping you to break the patterns of obsession and compulsion.
Using effective therapy techniques, I help clients feel safer around their thoughts, reduce anxiety, and respond differently to their thoughts and any triggers. This allows OCD obsessive or intrusive thoughts gently to fall away as they no longer have any hold over you.
It works in a much more rapid, yet gentler and more effective way than traditional approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
Healing Trauma-Related Anxiety
Past trauma can lead someone the feel highly anxious and hypervigilant, particularly with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which can be extremely distressing and interfere with daily life,
With an integration of therapy techniques, I help clients to overcome trauma using gentle techniques that are highly effective and work quickly without re-traumatisation.
EFT, and particular NLP techniques, including Time Line Therapy™ and the Fast Phobia Cure (The Rewind Technique) quickly and gently reprocess traumatic memories and restores your sense of safety. This allows healing at a pace that feels manageable and supportive for you.
Effective Anxiety Treatment for Other common types of Anxiety we all Commonly Experience
We all have times when we’re feeling anxious about something, like an upcoming event, for example, a presentation, a wedding speech, or a first date, or a stressful situation, like problems at work, relationship conflict, or financial worries.
Clients often come to me for help for those kinds of issues. I use an integrated, tailored approach to help them overcome the issues they are having and feel more empowered. Sometimes it can involve taking the charge out of past difficult experiences that are affecting them in their present situation, albeit unconsciously. Sometimes it can involve resolving self-doubt or limiting beliefs that are holding them back.
Hypnotherapy, NLP and EFT for these kinds of issues can help you access your much more of your potential.
Effective Anxiety Treatment for Other Anxiety Related Issues

There are a number of other issues that are usually, or are often driven by anxiety. These include selective mutism, separation anxiety disorder, sleep disturbances, tinnitus, and body-focused repetitive behaviours (BFRBs), such as hair pulling (Trichotillomania), skin Picking disorder (Dermatillomania), body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), cheek biting, and Teeth grinding (bruxism).
With an integrated, tailored, combination of therapies, I help clients to overcome these conditions by gently addressing their unique underlying emotional drivers, resolving unhelpful subconscious patterns, and helping their nervous system return to a state of safety and balance.
Because this approach is highly individualised, it can be adapted to help with anxiety patterns that are complex, long-standing, or don’t respond well to more standardised treatment approaches.
Overcoming Anxiety and Depression Together
It’s very common for someone to experience both anxiety and depression together. Depression can often lead to an anxiety disorder and vice versa. This combination can feel particularly heavy and overwhelming.
I use an integrated, tailored approach using a highly effective combination of hypnotherapy, NLP and EFT and other techniques to help you to overcome both anxiety and depression.
I help you to resolve the underling issues that are causing you to feel depressed and to resolve your specific anxiety issues so that you can gain back a sense of calm and feel much more uplifted and positive. I also use and give you empowering techniques to help feel much more positive and empowered about staying in good mental health going forward.
A Path to Empowered Recovery from Anxiety

Whatever type of anxiety you’re experiencing, or even if you have a combination more than one or several, you can overcome it with the right approach for you.
Anxiety is not who you are. It is something your mind and body learned to do in response to experiences and stress.
Holistic therapy helps your system unlearn those patterns in a way that feels empowering and allows you to feel calm and confident.
Effective Anxiety Treatment Online and in-person
I offer effective anxiety therapy online and in person. Online hypnotherapy with NLP and online EFT work just as well as in person therapy sessions. Online therapy sessions are highly effective and ideal for many people.
